The pace of change depends on the extent to which managers and employees can remove obstructive factors.
Pace = organisation x employee x market
the maturity of the organisation in dealing with change
the pace at which the employees can, and want to, process new things
the pressure placed on the employee by the environment and the organisation.
Resistance arises from each of these elements. It all boils down to learning how to deal with this resistance, removing barriers and giving people the necessary resources to do this. Each change hurts!
